K-Set ist eine Sammlung unabhängiger, selbstverlegter Medien, aktiv in Zürich seit 2004. Ursprünglich in einem Raum im Kalki-Squat untergebracht, ist sie an verschiedene Orte in der Stadt umgezogen und befindet sich momentan an der Schönleinstrasse 10 in Zürich-Fluntern.
Die Sammlung dokumentiert eine selbstorganisierte Publikationspraxis außerhalb eines kommerziellen, professionellen oder akademischen Kontextes und umfasst über 15’000 Objekte: Zines, Broschüren, Audio-Kassetten, Plakate, Bücher, Zeitungen, Aufkleber, Flugblätter, CD’s, Video-Kassetten, DVD’s, Memory Sticks, Disketten und anderes, ab den 1960er Jahren.
K-Set ist öffentlich zugänglich. Alles Material kann vor Ort gescannt und fotografiert werden. Aktuell einmal im Monat oder nach Vereinbarung geöffnet, ist es ein Raum zum Stöbern, für Recherche und Austausch.
K-Set wird von einem kleinen Kollektiv betrieben. Es ist kein Verein oder in einer anderen Form institutionalisiert und nimmt keine Gelder von öffentlichen oder privaten Institutionen an.
Hast du selbst oder im Kollektiv ein Zine herausgegeben, Musik veröffentlicht oder ein Poster gedruckt? Hast du eine alte Kiste mit gesammelten Flyern, Zeitschriften oder Kassetten? Wir freuen uns, wenn du uns deine Publikationen dauerhaft zur Verfügung stellst. Wir werden sie sorgfältig behandeln und sie werden bestimmt nicht verloren gehen.

K-Set est une collection de médias indépendants auto-publiés, active à Zurich depuis 2004. Installée à l’origine dans une pièce du Kalki-Squat, elle a déménagé dans différents lieux de la ville et se trouve en ce moment à la Schönleinstrasse 10 à Zurich-Fluntern.
La collection documente une pratique de publication auto-organisée en dehors d’un contexte commercial, professionnel ou académique et comprend plus de 15’000 objets : fanzines, brochures, cassettes audio, affiches, livres, journeaux, autocollants, flyers, CD, cassettes vidéo, DVD, clés USB, disquettes, et autres, à partir des annés 1960.
K-Set est ouvert au public. Tout le matériel peut être scanné et photographié sur place. Actuellement ouvert une fois par mois ou sur rendez-vous, c’est un espace de feuilletage, de recherche et d’échange.
K-Set est géré par un petit collectif. Ce n’est pas une association ou institutionnalisé sous une autre forme et ne prend pas de fonds d’institutions publiques ou privées.
As-tu publié toi-même ou collectivement un zine, sorti de la musique, ou imprimé une affiche ? As-tu une vieille boîte avec des flyers, des magazines ou des cassettes collectionnées ? N’hésite pas à nous contacter si tu souhaites faire un don de publications. Nous les traiterons avec soin et elles ne se perdront certainement pas.

The collection documents a self-organised publishing practise outside of a commercial, professional or academic context and includes over 15’000 objects: zines, pamphlets, audio-tapes, posters, books, newspapers, stickers, flyers, CD’s, video-tapes, DVD’s, memory sticks, floppy discs and more, from the 1960’s onwards.
K-Set is open to the public, all material can be scanned and photographed on site. Currently open once a month or by appointment, it is a space to browse, for research and exchange.
K-Set is run by a small collective. It is not an association or institutionalized in any other form and does not take funding from public or private institutions.
Did you yourself or collectively publish a zine, release music, or print a poster? Do you have an old box with collected flyers, magazines or tapes? Please contact us if you have any publications you’d like to donate. We will treat them with care and they will certainly not get lost.

Open Call for Manuals
Im Fokus der Veranstaltung steht das Handbuch – das Handuch als Werkzeug zur Vermittlung von Know-How. Ein Handbuch zu veröffentlichen heisst, Wissen zu teilen und allgemein zugänglich zu machen. Inspiriert von selbstverlegten How-to-Zines, Rezeptbüchern, Infoblättern, Schulungskassetten und Tutorial-Videos aus der K-Set-Sammlung, laden wir dich ein, mit einer eigenen How-to-Anleitung oder mit deinen Lieblingshandbüchern an der Veranstaltung teilzunehmen. Egal wie bescheiden, alle haben Wissen oder Fähigkeiten weiterzugeben. Wir stellen uns ein bunter, thematisch diverser Mix von informativen, kritischen, ironischen oder humorvollen Gebrauchsanweisungen und Praxistipps vor, und freuen uns auf deinen Beitrag. Es kann ein Infostand oder ein Büchertisch sein, ein Workshop, ein Vortrag, eine Ausstellung, eine Sound-Installation, eine Performance, oder ein einzelnes Plakat, Flugblatt oder Zine, das sich selbst erklärt.
Die Veranstaltung findet in den Gewächshäusern und im Aussenraum auf dem Brünneliacher-Areal in Zürich-Albisrieden statt. Der Stadtrandacker baut hier, wie auch auf diversen anderen Flächen an Zürichs Stadtrand, gemeinschaftlich Gemüse an.
Bei Interesse melde dich gerne per E-Mail bei uns. Falls du nicht an die Veranstaltung kommst, kannst du uns deine Sachen auch per Post oder digital schicken, und wir legen sie für dich aus.

L’événement se concentre sur le manuel – le manuel en tant qu’outil de transmission du savoir-faire. Publier un manuel, c’est partager des connaissances et les rendre généralement accessibles. Inspirés par des zines how-to, des livres de recettes, des feuillets d’information, des cassettes éducatives et des vidéos tutorielles auto-éditées de la collection K-Set, nous t’invitons à participer à l’événement avec ton propre guide pratique ou avec tes manuels préférés. Aussi modestes qu’elles soient, tout le monde a des connaissances ou des compétences à partager. Nous imaginons un mélange coloré et thématiquement diversifié de mode d’emploi et de conseils pratiques informatifs, critiques, ironiques ou humoristiques, et nous nous réjouissons de ta contribution. Ce peut être un stand d’information ou une table de livres, un workshop, une conférence, une exposition, une installation sonore, une performance, ou une simple affiche, un flyer ou un zine qui se passe de commentaires.
L’événement aura lieu dans les serres et dans l’espace extérieur du site Brünneliacher à Zurich-Albisrieden. Le projet agricole Stadtrandacker cultive collectivement des légumes ici, ainsi que sur divers autres terrains situés à la périphérie de Zurich.

The event is focussing on the manual – the manual as a tool for imparting know-how. Publishing a manual means sharing knowledge and making it generally accessible. Inspired by self-published how-to zines, recipe books, info sheets, educational tapes and tutorial videos from the K-Set collection, we invite you to participate in the event with your own how-to guide or with your favorite manuals. No matter how modest, everyone has knowledge or skills to share. We imagine a colorful, thematically diverse mix of informative, critical, ironic or humorous how-to instructions and practical tips, and look forward to your contribution. It can be an information stand or a book table, a workshop, a lecture, an exhibition, a sound installation, a performance, or a single poster, flyer or zine that speaks for itself.
The event will take place in the greenhouses and in the outdoor area on the Brünneliacher site in Zurich-Albisrieden. The community-supported agriculture project Stadtrandacker collectively grows vegetables here, as well as in various other areas on the outskirts of Zurich.
